On September 17, 2020, the crew of the Here’s To Us!! left Donovan’s Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady, New York and decided to stay at Guy Park wall in Amsterdam, New York right after Lock 11.

The last time we cruised from Schenectady on our gold loop, we also stayed in Amsterdam. But we docked at Riverlink Park instead.

You can read about it or listen to us ramble on here.

To Amsterdam, New York

For this stretch of the Erie Canal, we went through Locks 8-11 and none of them had cables to throw a line around.

They all had ropes hanging down to grab and hold on to.

Talk about feeling like I should have lifted weights to prepare for this!

My noodle arms really got a work out.

You can hear all about it here.

Have You Ever Been on the Erie Canal?

The first time through, Sam would not stop singing, “I got an old mare, her name is Sal…” you know the rest.

I mean, come on!

We still have a lot of locks to go through.

Well, I got used to it or maybe I just started blocking it out, but this is an incredible part of the United States that I hope you get a chance to experience.

Have you ever been on the Erie Canal?

We would love to hear your story.
