Today was a great day on the Here’s To Us!!

Not only did we seem to make progress on our overall plan, but Sam got to visit with three of the most interesting people in the world.

While our mechanic was busy reassembling the port engine three stories below, we got to visit with three of Sam’s Army friends who he met during his time as a Navy contractor as a retired Air Force officer.

Pictured left to right is Greg Howe, author of The Perfect Storm, Art Nichols, OPSEC guru, Sam and Joe Saul, father of Army OPSEC.

The four reminisced about historical perspectives from the Cold War, the Vietnam War, leading up to present day politics.

What could be more interesting than CIA, NSA, Army, and Air Force stories?

Joe, Greg and Art worked together on some of the most interesting Army projects ever conceived.

The amazing part is that while they kept our country safe and at the leading edge of technology, we will never truly know the full effect of their contributions.

And they can never tell us.

Sam was truly blessed to know and learn from these three intelligence community pioneers.

Greg Howe embarked on a five year mission to document (via his book) the journey and success of Army efforts to establish the OPSEC discipline.

Joe Saul, who is still considered the father of Army OPSEC, remains steeped in current affairs and offers a unique insight into world events.

Art Nichols, who was a major player in the formation of the OPSEC discipline, currently volunteers with his service dog, Zeus, at Veteran’s Hospitals and Centers.

It was an emotional, inspiring and unforgettable day.

  3. A fun-filled day for all of us, I think. Joe, Nick, and I do not get together as often as we should so we have Rev and Sam to thank for calling us to order. These Texas folks are two of the best I have ever met and that’s from a Yankee (though not a New Yowk Yankee). Looking forward to our next gathering. Great idea to go south and meet with some folks who have either done the Loop or thinking about it. Best of luck to you both.
